For Americans who travel to Europe, Ireland can be a great place to stopover and reset. Ireland has very low airport departure taxes, and it is generally a shorter flight from the US mainland, making it a great place to do a short stop. I also find the Irish people to be extremely friendly, and there isn’t a language barrier. If you add in the beautiful buildings, history, and great food and drinks, it just makes for a great place to visit.
Jenn was in Dublin for a few days in the Summer of 2025, and we used it just a few months later for a stopover on our way back from Nice, France. I really enjoyed our stay in Dublin, and I imagine we will return many times in the future.
A Busy Stayover in Dublin
During a brief stopover in Dublin, we explored the city, enjoying its rich pub culture and historic sites. We visited classic taverns, the Jameson Distillery, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral, indulging in local brews and traditional dishes. Dublin is a great place to pack in a lot in a short time.
Jameson Irish Whiskey Tour
During a recent visit to Dublin, I toured the Jameson Distillery, opting for it over the Guinness Brewery. The experience included a historical overview, sensory demonstrations, and a guided whiskey tasting. I was pleasantly surprised by Jameson’s quality, finding it enjoyable and a great value for its price. Highly recommended for whiskey enthusiasts.
